Future You Tech Academy is committed to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment in which every child can learn, create and have fun.
The safety and wellbeing of the children attending our camps and clubs is our highest priority. We take all safeguarding concerns seriously and act in the best interests of the child at all times.
Our safeguarding commitment
We aim to keep children safe by:
-Following robust safeguarding and child-protection procedures.
-Appointing a Designated Safeguarding Lead for our organisation.
-Recruiting staff using appropriate safer-recruitment procedures.
-Completing appropriate Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, including a check of the Children’s Barred List where the role is eligible.
-Ensuring that all camp staff complete safeguarding training and receive clear guidance about recognising, responding to and reporting concerns.
-Maintaining appropriate staff-to-child ratios and suitable supervision throughout our activities.
-Recording and securely managing safeguarding information.
-Working with parents, schools, venues, local authorities and relevant safeguarding agencies when necessary.
-Taking appropriate action if a concern or allegation is raised about a member of staff, volunteer or another child.
Staff conduct
All members of the Future You team are expected to follow our Staff Code of Conduct and maintain clear professional boundaries.
Staff must report any safeguarding concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. They must never promise to keep information secret if a child tells them something that suggests they or another person may be at risk of harm.
Photography and video
Photographs or videos of children will only be taken and used where appropriate permission has been obtained from a parent or carer.
Children will not be identified by their full name alongside an image without specific consent. Parents and carers should not photograph or record other children attending our activities without permission.
Online safety
As a technology education provider, we recognise the importance of keeping children safe online.
Children are supervised while using devices and online platforms during our sessions. We use age-appropriate activities and take reasonable steps to prevent access to unsuitable content. Children are encouraged to behave responsibly, protect their personal information and tell a member of staff if they see anything online that worries or upsets them.
